Boston Marathon victims gather to finish race

As a result of the bombings at this year’s Boston Marathon, more than 5,000 runners were stopped in their tracks along the course, unable to complete the race they had trained for all winter (HERE). The horrific bombing shook the foundation of America's core. It had families coming together and represented one of America's worst tragedies on one of its most hallowed afternoons.

Sun, Sea and Spurs... AVB and the boys top up their tans on tour of the Bahamas

Tottenham are clearly getting over their Champions League heartache. Or perhaps they're doing the equivalent of drowning their sorrows. Either way, they're a world away from Wembley, soaking up the sun in The Bahamas.

The Premier League club are currently winding down after the stresses of a campaign which saw them just miss out on a place in the top four, and Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen and Emmanuel Adebayor have given fans a behind the scenes look at the post-season tour.

Man City 5 Chelsea 3: Nasri and Co star in another US thriller

Playing in the world’s most famous ball park, Manchester City and Chelsea ended their brief visit to America by providing their audience with a baseball score.

Having scored seven times between them in St Louis on Thursday – City winning that game 4-3 – this time the two English teams came up with one more. City it was who won again but those who braved a rather chilly night in the Bronx will have cared more for the entertainment.

If football – or soccer – is ever to take a real hold in America then this is the type of game that will help. They don’t like goalless draws over there so it was little surprise that another high-scoring game was greeted so rapturously.

Athletics - Tyson Gay wins Diamond League sprint in New York

                  adidas Grand Prix

Former world champion Tyson Gay, free from injury for one of the few times in recent years, blitzed his rivals on Saturday to win the 100 metres at the Diamond League Grand Prix in New York.

Kenya's Olympic champion David Rudisha also outclassed his opponents to easily win the 800m at the New York leg of the Diamond League series.

Croatia's Blanka Vlasic, competing for the first time since 2011, won the women's high jump while veteran Jamaican sprinter Veronica Campbell-Brown showed a clean pair of heels to win the women's 200m dash.

Basketball - Spurs one game away from Finals after huge comeback win

Memphis Grizzlies 93, 104 San Antonio Spurs (OT)

The San Antonio Spurs are just one win away from the NBA Finals after coming back from an 18-point deficit to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 104-93 in overtime in Memphis on Saturday.

The Spurs lead the best-of-seven Western Conference Finals 3-0 after the victory and can sweep into the title series for the first time since 2007 with another win on Monday.

The Grizzlies led 29-11 late in the first quarter but were worn down across the rest of the game, with the Spurs taking their first lead in the fourth quarter.

BAYERN MUNICH ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE

‘It’s coming home, it’s coming home,’ chanted the Bayern Munich fans as they waited for their team to mount Wembley’s steps and claim their European crown. Shortly after their captain, Philipp Lahm, would hold that famous old trophy aloft, a cathartic moment for a club scarred by defeat in the previous two Champions League finals.

Last night at the modern national stadium, Bayern and Dortmund delivered perhaps the finest final since Wembley reopened. Two years ago Barcelona staged a spectacular exhibition there but as a contest, this had at it all.

Rosberg claims pole in showery Monaco

Nico Rosberg eclipsed Lewis Hamilton once again as Mercedes swept to the front row of the Monaco Grand Prix. Both drivers had staked their claims for pole position when Hamilton blitzed to the front of the grid with a 1:13.967 - only for Rosberg to eke out another nine-hundredths of a second moments later. It was an agonising miss for the Brit to deny him his first pole on the streets of Monte Carlo and means Rosberg has now beaten him three times to pole three times in a row.

Sebastian Vettel's final effort was only good enough for third, with team-mate Mark Webber in fourth.

TRANSFER BATTLES!

Arsenal ready to break the bank and lure wantaway Rooney to Emirates

Arsenal are growing increasingly confident they can finance a record-breaking move for Wayne Rooney. Sportmail exclusively revealed the Gunners’ interest in the unsettled Manchester United star last week.

A move for Rooney was first discussed in a scouting meeting in March, but there was an acknowledgement that his  £250,000-per-week wages could be a stretch too far for the club.

However, Arsenal are refusing to dismiss the idea of landing Rooney this summer. He has just two years to run on his existing Old Trafford contract and the Gunners hope that the security of a five-year deal worth close to £200,000-a-week will be an attractive proposition for the striker.
Arsenal are also willing to hand Rooney a multi-million pound signing-on fee to supplement his wages.

The deal would make Rooney the club’s best ever paid player.

I also like the fact that there are so many different languages. In such a small country, we have an incredible amount of diversity and influences from abroad. Also, great chocolate. Mountains. Cheese. Rivers. Lakes. Pretty much everything. Just move there.

Insane Sports Stories That Will Make You Believe In Curses

Sports players and fans alike are a superstitious bunch. As a result, every team that's gone a few years without a title is declared to be under some kind of "curse" or spell despite the fact that you know, in these precious games we all love dearly, there can only be one winner.

But then, there are the other curses, the real ones, the ones that are kind of hard to dismiss. Sportunes will be a hunting ground for those curses that are too bad to be a lie.

Richards-Ross to make comeback after injury layoff

For most of her life, Sanya Richards-Ross has done everything at full speed. As an Olympic sprinter, it is an occupational hazard she has learned to live with.

But surgery has put a halt on her athletic ambitions, at least for now. The 28-year-old took a break after last year's London Olympics to repair a problem in her big toe that had plagued her for years.

By her own standards, the American has had to take things slow. Her recovery from an operation, where surgeons shaved two bones on her troublesome big toe, took longer than expected.

She only began training three weeks ago, on a special treadmill which reduces the body weight placed on her foot.
