Juventus striker Carlos Tevez and his family have been received by Argentine Pope Francis in the Vatican.
The pair both come from Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, and were there to discuss several issues, including the difficulties faced in the area they were brought up in.
Speaking on Twitter, Tevez said: 'Thank you Holy Father for welcoming my family. I’m proud that you’re Argentine, and above all that you’re so humble.'
From the little i know about an athlete shaking Pope Francis, your season can only get better after the holy encounter.
Tennis star Juan Martin Del Potro went to meet the Pope almost immediately after he was elected, not only has the new world number FIVE gone on to stay injury free for the first time in recent years, the 25 year old has also had one of his best seasons ever. “It was an incredible experience with Pope Francis, something that I’ll never forget,” Del Potro told ATPWorldTour.com back then. “It was a dream come true for a guy like me. It was an unforgettable moment. I was very nervous before meeting him, to be able to congratulate him and talk with him. He was nice. Everybody knows he is very humble. Today was a day that I’ll remember forever.”
“He told me that he knew I was playing at the tournament in Rome, he blessed me and wished me the best,” Del Potro said. “I congratulated him and thanked him for the opportunity to talk to him.”
