Female Basketball Player Collapses During Game

The Louisville women rolled to a 91-49 win over Missouri State yesterday night, but the bigger story was the scary incident that took place early in the first half of the game.

Antonita Slaughter, a senior from Christian Academy of Louisville, started the game and scored the first basket. She had come out of the game and was standing next to the bench when she fell over with 17:13 left of the first half and the Cards ahead 7-2.

Louisville spokeswoman Kim Pemberton said Slaughter apparently had a seizure. She added that at the hospital, Slaughter was awake and answering questions from doctors.

Play resumed after a delay of 7-8 minutes as she was attended by medical personnel and then wheeled out.
