FRENCH OPEN ROUND UP

Defending champion Rafa Nadal stuttered for the second time so far at the French Open before moving through to the third round with a 4-6 6-3 6-3 6-3 victory over Slovakia's Martin Klizan.

The result meaning the spaniard is going to play two matches on consecutive days due to Thursday’s rain delays. The world number 4 was clearly unhappy and he went all out on the organisers of the event

'I think everybody knows in this room that the schedule of yesterday was wrong. That's the real thing.

'The director of the tournament, supervisors, they take a bad position two days ago, because when you make the schedule at 7pm, you know what weather predictions you have for the next days.

'I cannot play third after a men's and a girl's match when my possible opponent plays second after girls. That's not fair. And today I was playing almost three hours on court, and my opponent was watching the TV in the locker room.

'So if you told me that's fair, I say that's not fair. The only thing that I can do is be positive, smile, and try to win my match and try to be ready for tomorrow.

'But that's not the right thing. This is not right. And I hope they accept the mistake.'

The Real Madrid fan probably buoyed by the outcry of Gulbis added 'The excuse they told me was because Rosol have to play doubles. I am sorry, but that's a joke. You have one more week to play doubles if you want to play doubles.

'Why do you want to protect the player who has to play doubles? So I'm going to write myself in the doubles draw then and I have the priority to play? That's not the right excuse to make a schedule like this.'

In another match, Kevin Anderson became the first South African to reach the fourth round at Roland Garros since 1996 when he outslugged 14th seed Milos Raonic on Friday.

The 27-year-old, Africa's only men's singles main draw entrant, won 7-5 7-6 (4) 6-3 in a match he dominated with his serve to equal the feat of Wayne Ferreira.

The 6-foot-8 (2.03-metre) Anderson also equalled his best ever grand slam showing having also reached the last 16 at the Australian Open earlier this year.

"Wayne is a great player to aspire to and to try and reach some of his achievements," Anderson told reporters.

"He was a great player and I've still obviously got a long way to go to...but being in the fourth round is great. A lot of people think clay is not a good surface but I enjoy playing on it."

After disposing of Canada's big-serving powerhouse Raonic, Anderson's next challenge will be Spanish fourth seed David Ferrer, a player he shares a 1-1 record with.

It will be a different type of contest to the one against the giant Raonic and Anderson is hoping for warmer, drier weather in time for Sunday's fourth round.

"I think it might help," said the South African after delivering 16 aces. "The serve might bounce up a little bit more and it may be easier to control points and get the ball up a little bit.

"I think that would be a bit more to my advantage."
