‘I’d Rather Sell Peanuts In My Village Than Play For A Pathetic Team Like Chelsea’ – Guess Who?

Hey folks, its time to play some humorous kind of Trivia?

Which world-reknowned player, speaking back in 2004, spoke these rather harsh Chelsea-bashing words…

“I’d rather sell groundnuts (peanuts) in my village than to play for a pathetic team like Chelsea.”

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE ANALYSIS

The Champions League is back and this season promises a lot of drama in the groups as old powerhouses have been drawn in the same groups. AC Milan and Barcelona have been drawn once again ( its getting suspicious!!!) while Real Madrid face Juventus. Arsenal have the misfortune of being in the group of death alongside Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Olympique Marseille. Below are our take on each group:

Arsenal's win over Fenerbache was an Excercise in Futility

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger

Its no more news that Arsenal beat Fenerbache to qualify for the Champions league proper, in fact the north London club have been drawn in a group which pundits all over the world have tagged 'group of death'.

Drama in Camp Nou as Barcelona win Spanish Super Cup against Atletico Madrid

Barcelona won a fourth Spanish Super Cup in five years when a scrappy 0-0 draw in their second leg at home to Atletico Madrid was enough for victory on the away goals rule.

Barca's new signing Neymar headed the equaliser in last week's 1-1 first leg draw at the Calderon and although the Brazil forward started a competitive game for the first time since joining from Santos he was well shackled by the Atletico players along with World Player of the Year Lionel Messi.

(PHOTO) Battered face of Gonzalo Higuain after suffering a freaky accident

Yesterday, Sportunes reported a sad tale of Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain requiring about ten stitches on his face after falling on a rock (HERE).

We'v managed to lay our hands on a picture that explains all what the former Madrid striker is going through at the Capilupi medical centre in Italy. The freaky accident seems to have made the most impact on the left side of his face with his jaw area being plastered and left eye appearing to be swollen.

We at Sportunes wish the Prolific one a quick recovery

What's the Mata? Mourinho 's loss if he sells the Spaniard.

Juan Mata - Chelsea v Aston Villa
Shocker! Juan Mata has been overlooked by Mourinho
One thing is clear about Jose Mourinho. He is a meticulous manager with an eye for details. Even the smallest. While he was scribbling away on his notepad in the dugout at the Bernabeu, he was probably drawing up how he wanted his new look Chelsea side to look and clearly, Juan Mata was not one of the players he had in mind. A baffling question that only Jose can answer is; Why bench Chelsea's best player and even want to sell him? Mourinho never ceases to amaze me!!!

From Daniel Stupid to Daniel Fantastic: Sturridge is reborn at Liverpool.

Daniel Sturridge - Liverpool v Stoke City - Premier League
Daniel Sturridge has been a sensation in Liverpool
While Daniel Sturridge was at Chelsea, it was not unusual to hear curses rained on the 23 year old. At match centres in my area, you could hear anguished fans shouting; Oloshi( Useless one), Oloriburuku (Cursed one) and so on after countless mistakes and missed chances. He was conceited and selfish and would even applaud himself after a shocking miss.

Barclays Premier League Review. Season 2013/2014, Episode 2

Fulham 1 3 Arsenal

Classy: Arsenal didn't look at team in disarray as they confidently swept Fulham aside

Arsenal put any talks of early season crisis on hold as they dispatched Fulham 3 goals to 1 at Craven Cottage. Arsenal got on the score sheet despite torrential rain, Oliver Giroud managed to control Aaron Ramsey's miscued shot as the French man slotted the gunners into a 14th minute lead. It was his second EPL goal in as many matches and he's now scored thirteen goals in London. Four minutes before half time Lukas Podolski who was relatively quiet through out the match powered Arsenal into a two goal lead after Fulham's goalie Stockdale could only parry a Theo Walcott shot into the path of the German.

Two goals turned to three in the 68th minute as Lukas Podolski bagged himself a brace. The goal was all about Santi Cazorla's footwork, the Spanish maestro laid a delightful pass to Podolski, who brilliantly found the bottom corner.  Fulham new signining Darren Bent came off the bench to put the home side on the score sheet to spark a come back, but a come back was never to be as Arsenal held their own to win their first EPL match of the season.

£93 Million for Bale? You gotta be kidding me!!!

Bale
Madridster: Gareth Bale is on his way to Madrid

It has to be a joke. A real good joke coming out of Madrid. Gareth Bale has joined Real Madrid for a reported fee of £93 million from Tottenham Hotspurs, a new world record fee to smash that of Cristiano Ronaldo's £80 million move from Man Utd to the Spanish capital. For all intents and purposes, I think Florentino Perez has finally lost it.

Mats Wilander

Mats Wilander is 49 today. He is a former World No. 1 tennis player from Sweden. From 1982 to 1988, he won seven Grand Slam singles titles (three at the French Open, three at the Australian Open, and one at the US Open) and one Grand Slam men's doubles title (at Wimbledon). He won three of the four Grand Slam singles events in 1988 and finished that year ranked World No. 1. Although he never won the singles title at Wimbledon, Wilander twice won the Australian Open when that tournament was still played on grass courts. This makes Wilander one of only five men (along with Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer) to have won Grand Slam singles titles on grass courts, hard courts, and clay courts. He and Rafael Nadal are the only men in tennis history to have won at least two Grand Slam singles titles on each of the three surfaces. Wilander won his fourth Grand Slam singles title at the age of 20, the youngest man in history to have achieved that feat. In addition he also won eight Championship Series titles (1983–88) the precursors to the current Masters 1000.

Do Statistics Make a better player? Join the debate!!!

Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta - FC Barcelona v FC Viktoria Plzen - UEFA Champions League

Its all about numbers. For months now i'v been pondering in my little head the significance of numbers. First things first, numbers don't lie. With that in mind i looked back at some arguments I had in secondary school with my class-mates always yelling at the top of their voices ' Adriano is better than Henry, Okocha is better than Ronaldinho, Enyeama is better than Casillas!!!'. Seriously we argued that. Unfortunately we can't compare all players but today I bring you a compelling case study that will make u bend to the power of numbers.

Most of us are guilty of categorizing all Kenyans as good distance runners but the truth has to be told on this blog. NOT ALL KENYANS ARE GOOD DISTANCE RUNNERS! Descendants of the Kalenjin (a tribe in Kenya) make up 12% of the population but account for the vast majority of the country's distance runners.

LeBron James Shaved His Head

LeBron James was recently in the Philippines for Nike's "Witness History Tour," promoting the sport of basketball in Southeast Asia.

But what really stood out from the photos was LeBron's hair. Or more specifically, the lack of hair.

There is still a hint of stubble. But for the most part, LeBron is now completely bald and looks shockingly different.

LeBron is often made fun of for his quickly receding hairline, so maybe he decided to just get over it and go bald

Just a reminder what he looked like with hair:
