Time is ticking! The ticket fees are paid in haste,the agents have got their electronic gadgets all packed up for work...the rush beckons... THE DEADLINE DAY IS NEAR!...here's a wrap of this week's major transfers:
Abul-Jaleel Ajagun (DOLPHINS FC to PANATHINAIKOS[€200,000])
Nigeria's U-20 skipper at this year's world youth championship in Turkey; Jaleel ajagun has finally hammered a €200,000 deal for Greek giants Panathinaikos. After days of medicals and also undergoing some few trial moments, the Nigerian forward would finally be plying his trade in Europe. We at Sportunes wish our own brother all the best and pray that the Greek 'gods' don't take their eyes off him. Jaleel would dawn jersey no. 14.
ERIK LAMELA(AS ROMA to TOTTHENHAM HOTSPURS [£25.7m + £2.5m performance related fee])
Yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur announced they had completed the transfer of Erik Lamela from Roma. The fee for Lamela made him the club's record transfer fee, smashing the two previous records that had been set earlier in the transfer window, first for Paulinho and then Roberto Soldado. With reports stating that Erik didn't want the move away from the Italian capital club and the 21 year old was seen in tears with team mates on his last day in training with AS Roma who needed the money more. Such a case of Money bringing tears!
ADEM LJAJIC (FIORENTINA CF to AS ROMA [€11m +€4m based on performance])
The Wonder kid from Serbia finally waves good-bye to the Viola's. Close to the end of last season, Ljajic suffered a bitter spat with then manager Del Rossi, where he was physically abused on the sideline by the Italian boss. Since then, The 21 year old who once had trials at Manchester United had been linked to many clubs, but with the departure of Erik Lamella to Tottenham, there was only one replacement on every Roma fans lips - ADEM LJAJIC! With such an amount spent on him, the midfield maestro can only hope he can get the goods for the Gilarossi.
MATHIEU FLAMINI(AC MILAN to ARSENAL[Free Transfer])
It's the "Return of the Mach" as old new boy Mathieu Flamini comes back to his home at the Emirates. Leaving AC Milan after a somewhat successful five year spell with the Rosenerris, Milan offered the french midfielder a year contract,but on a performance related basis which Flamini along side his agent Darren Dein declined to accept. The French man hence packed his bag and baggages to London Colney (Arsenal's training base) hoping to regain some fitness and hopefully catch the eye of father figure Arsene Wenger. It was a case of Mission accomplished for the 29 year old as the "Unserious One" Wenger was duely impressed by his old student and offered him a three year contract reportedly worth £40,000 a week.
SAMUEL ETO'O:(ANZHI MAKACHAKALA to CHELSEA FC[Free Transfer]
The African "Eagle" has arrived, a legend, a true hero, a world class player in every word has finally graced the melodious tune of the world's most viewed league. After once stating in 2004 that..."I'd rather sell groundnuts in my village than play for a pathetic team like chelsea"; well,it seems the Cameroonian has decided to collect more groundnut money from Chelsea billionaire with a reported earning of £7.5m on his one year contract. It must also be emphasized that Eto's contract at Stamford Bridge, means he will be taking a huge pay cut from the £17m a year he earned at Anzhi – which made him the world’s best paid player.
WILLIAN(ANZHI MAKACHAKALA to CHELSEA[£31m])
Is this is the "steal of all time" done by the Gang De Jose Mouhrinho? Samba boy Willian was reported to have craved for a move to Merseyside outfit Liverpool Fc after being transfer listed by Russian club Anzhi due to the fire sale project they are undergoing. It turned out while the Brazillian was on the verge of being a Kop for a fee worth about £25m, Spurs came to gate-crash the party with a higher bid of £28m; This time the 25 year old went as far as doing medicals for the north London club and was about putting pen to paper, when Jose Mourinho and his goons entered the room with an extra £3m. Willian has gone on to sign for Chelsea and its been reported that the whole scenario was master minded by Chelsea owner Roman Abrahamovic who decided to pull the strings for the deal calling up fellow oligarch and Anzhi owner Suleyman Kerimov. Wow! Transfer action film well played;"SUMMER TRANSFER STEAL OF ALL TIME"
This week can't go bye without;
The Best of the Rest deal:
CHRISTOPHER SAMBA:(ANZHI MAKACHKALA to DYNAMO MOSCOW[€10m])
"Football has No Love" its been quoted time and time again, this was fully displayed again by Congolese born and former QPR player Chris Samba who sealed a move to his third club in six months. A move to QPR from Anzhi in January this year, then a return back to Anzhi early June this summer, before making the cut again to FC Dynamo Moscow for a sum of €10million. Hmm what a hot commodity Mr Samba really is; an estimated total of £32.5m has being exchanged for the African; seems i also need to get my dusty boots out; money needs to be made!
ALESSANDRO MATRI:(JUVENTUS FC to AC MILAN[€11m])
After weeks of being linked to SS Napoli, Italian marksman and goal hunter Alessandro "the matrix" Matri re-joins serieA giants Ac Milan. The Italian had been pushed down the pecking order of strikers since the arrivals of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente to Juventus.
