United's title parade! Ferguson's champions take to the streets of Manchester to celebrate their 20th league success

Manchester United are champions of England and today they celebrated the success with thousands of adoring fans around the streets of Manchester.

Sir Alex addressed the crowd: 'This is fantastic. Its fantastic to get through the Premier division and win it in style with a great bunch of players. It is a young squad with a lot of good players. The big test is to win it three times in a row so I hope the boys can do that.

'Yesterday was a day I will never forget and i thank you for that. my grandchildren will remember it for many many years.'

 Robin van Persie spoke to MUTV on board the bus: 'It's incredible. It is even nicer than I expected - there are so many people.

'It (winners medal) didn't leave my neck since yesterday. It is a heavy trophy but it is great to win it. This is for the players, fans, staff, every single one here. It has made so many people happy and I'm very pleased to see that.'

A touching tribute for Sir Alex to finish: 'He is an unbelievable manager, maybe the best ever, but he is an even greater person and I'm really honoured to have worked with him.'

Rooney was subjected to vocal signs of discontent from the Old Trafford faithful as a result of handing in a transfer request to leave the Red Devils in the summerWant-away foward Wayne Rooney was booed by Manchester United fans during their Premier League title parade.

Outgoing manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed after his final home game in charge against Swansea on Sunday that the 27-year-old, who has been at the club since moving from Everton in 2004, recently handed in a transfer request.

The want away forward was booed by sections of the Old Trafford support when he collected his Premier League winner's medal on Sunday.

 Ryan Giggs said: 'It is just brilliant. It gives us a chance to share with the fans a great achievement this season. It is an amazing atmosphere.'

                    

                    

 Michael Carrick admitted to MUTV: 'I've been getting a bit carried away. I've nearly fallen off three times. This turnout is just amazing, the whole week has been special.

'Celebrating winning the league but with Scholes and the manager retiring it is a fitting send off. I never thought we would get anything like this. I have been singing quite a bit lately - you can probably tell by my voice.'

Sir Alex told  MUTV: 'I thought 1999 was the best i had ever seen but this is unbelievable - I'm really proud of them (the fans).

'I always expected a big crowd but this is exceptional.'
