Wolves turn to God to save them from second successive relegation..

Wolves are in dire trouble in the npower Championship and have turned to the Lord to answer their prayers.

One local Bishop has turned to God with a prayer that he hopes will save his beloved club from a second successive relegation.

But given Dean Saunders' run of form since taking charge, five wins in 19 matches, perhaps an omnipotent, omniscient being will not be enough to save the men from Molineux as Heaven helps those who help themselves.
Dear Lord: The prayer that Rt Revd Clive Gregory hopes will save Wolves
The Rt. Revd Clive Gregory, Bishop of Wolverhampton, penned 'A prayer for Wolves FC' in the hope the men in gold will get some divine intervention before their must-win match away to Brighton.

The prayer reads 'Shine your light on all connected with the Wolves who are now feeling the darkness of despair...Fill those playing on Saturday with passion, pride, skill and endeavour, that songs of triumph may be song once more.'
Will it be enough? Given Wolves' recent run of form a helping hand from God may not be enough
THE RELEGATION BATTLE

Where to begin? SEVEN teams – over a quarter of the league – can still be relegated. Blackburn are safe barring a mathematical miracle because Huddersfield, joint on points with them, play Barnsley who are in 22nd.
A draw in that game would see the Yorkshire side safe and they would have to lose by four goals and have Peterborough, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall all win for them to drop out of the league.

If Barnsley lose they’re relegated, UNLESS Peterborough are hammered at Palace and their goal difference worsens by six goals more than their relegation rival’s. If Barnsley draw and Peterborough are defeated then they will displace them into safety.
Must-win: Wolves travel to Brighton knowing that only a win will keep them up
Second-from-bottom Wolves must win, away to Brighton, to stand any chance of survival. Even then they are relying on Barnsley and Peterborough to both lose, and to turn around a four-goal goal difference on Posh. The odds are stacked against them.

Millwall, who face Derby away, and Sheffield Wednesday, who are home to Middlesbrough, are not safe yet either and will be nervously glancing over their respective shoulders. Both win and they’re in the clear. But both draw and if Peterborough and Barnsley pick up three points, Wednesday, a point behind Millwall, will be down.

There is a very slim chance that Blackburn could still go down if Barnsley, Peterborough, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall all win and there is a 14-goal swing.

It’s safe to say there are going to be tens of thousands of anxious Barnsley, Peterborough, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall fans watching nervously.
