Jose Mourinho shoots at Cristiano Ronaldo, Calls him 'Know It All'.... Casillas bids the Chelsea boss Farewell!

Not on speaking terms: Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo in the tunnel before Real Madrid's match against Osasuna on Saturday

Jose Mourinho has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo “thinks he knows everything” and that is why his relationship with the world's most expensive player broke down towards the end of last season.

Ronaldo joined Real from Manchester United for £80 million in 2009 and took his goalscoring exploits to new heights under Mourinho, who left Real Madrid to rejoin Chelsea as manager earlier this week.

Asked in an interview with Spanish television show Punto Pelota why his relationship with Ronaldo had broken down towards the end of last season, Mourinho said the player had not taken criticism well.

Leaving Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo says that he will not renew his contract past 2015

"Cristiano has had three fantastic seasons with me, I don't know if they were the best of his career because he had some fantastic moments with Manchester United.

"I think we created a fantastic situation for him tactically in which he could express all his potential and turn that into records and goals." The Portuguese coach said

"I had only one problem with him, very simple, very basic, which was when a coach criticises a player from a tactical viewpoint trying to improve what in my view could have been improved,"

"And at that moment he didn't take it very well because maybe he thinks he knows everything and the coach cannot help him to develop more.

'But there is no other problem. The last two games, which have been the only games in which he has not played because he always played before and he always gave everything for the team, in these last couple of weeks he has had this pain in his back and I don’t ever doubt the players when they say they are injured.'

Mourinho was also asked if Ronaldo’s closest friend at Madrid, Pepe, had betrayed him.
He said: 'It is a good question for him not me. The only thing I can say is that he had one foot out of the club and I brought him back and I fought for him to be paid as a fantastic player like him should be paid.

'But he got injured and a kid 13 years younger (Raphael Varane) than him came in and I felt this other player deserved to stay in the team and he (Pepe) did not take it well. And then suddenly all the people that had done nothing but criticise him before were on his side (against me).'

But the man who was hurt the most by Mourinho - Iker Casillas insists he bears former coach Jose Mourinho no ill will and has wished him luck at Chelsea.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper fell out of favor under Mourinho during the Portuguese's last season at Madrid and ended up not playing a single match for the first team in the final five months of the season.

He was initially dropped in surprise circumstances for little-known understudy Antonio Adan before Christmas and then, while Casillas was recovering from a hand injury, Diego Lopez was brought in and made the goalkeeping position his own with a string of fine performances.

He said in the Spanish press: 'I don't hold any grudge nor do I feel mistreated by him. He took the decisions which he thought were the best for the club and you need to respect that. I've nothing personal against him.

'Unfortunately we weren't able to achieve our objectives in the Copa del Rey and Champions League in the end, but there's no point going on about that.

'Mourinho has embarked on a new journey and I wish him the best.'
