Tiger Woods out for ONE month due to Elbow Injury

Tiger Woods will not defend his AT&T National title at Congressional due to an elbow strain and is not expected to play again before The Open next month.

Woods announced on his official website today he has been told to rest, but he believes he will be back in time for the next major at Muirfield which starts on July 18.

'I was examined after I returned home from the US. Open, and the doctors determined I have a left elbow strain,' Woods said.

'I have been advised to take a few weeks off, rest and undergo treatment.

'I'll be ready to go for the British Open, and I'm looking forward to playing at Muirfield

'The AT&T National means a lot to me and my foundation. It's especially difficult not defending at my own tournament. It's going to be a great event, and I look forward to being there to provide my support.'

Woods had suffered some minor discomfort prior to last week's US Open at Merion and went on to aggravate the area during the event.

The world number one finished 13-over par, his worst ever score in a US Open, also matching his highest total in any major.
