Ashley Young appeals against driving ban

Manchester United's Ashley Young

Manchester United star Ashley Young will appeal against a six-month driving ban he faced after racing his Range Rover at 100 mph along the M62 near Huddersfield in January.

According to the Daily Star, Young made an apology in an attempt to keep his driving license, along with telling the Wakefield Magistrates' Court that he knew what he did was not right and was endangering not just himself but also others on the road.

The star told the court that he deeply regretted what he had done and he was sorry, but being barred would make it difficult for him to see his partner and two young children in Hertfordshire.

The Manchester United player was also fined 1,000 pounds and was given a 100 pound victim surcharge along with costs of 85 pounds. (ANI)

Cheer up: Santos had a miserable opening 45 minutes at Old Trafford

I just hope Young's appeal is granted, if not the English Premier League might lose another star due to fitness issues. Just like Andre Santos's case where he had his driving license seized for 1 year, rumor has it that he was always walking to training, which resulted in fatigue and hence the former Brazilian left back was bounced from the EPL - 'League of Extreme Fitness'.

I sincerely hope Young doesn't tread that same path.
