The Football Association and Aston Villa have both congratulated the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their first child.
The Duchess, Kate Middleton, gave birth to a baby son at St Mary's Hospital in London on Monday, weighing 8lbs 6oz.
Prince William is the president of the FA and Greg Dyke, the FA chairman, said: "On behalf of The Football Association, I would like to congratulate their Royal Highnesses on the birth of their son. It is truly wonderful news.
"All of us at The FA wish the new family well and all the very best for the future."
Meanwhile, Aston Villa, who are the team that Prince William supports, have sent out a replica kit with the letters HRH and number 1 on the back to commemorate the birth.
A statement on the club's official website, said: "Villa would like to extend congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the arrival of their baby boy.
"The Duke is a huge Villa fan and it is hoped that his new son will be brought up in the claret and blue tradition.
"As a birthday present, Villa chiefs have sent the 8lbs 6oz tot a new kit with the appropriate letters 'HRH' and the number '1' on the back."
The Duke of Cambridge has never spoken of his decision to follow the Aston Villa but it is believed he began following the team in his early school days.
He attended the 2000 FA Cup semi-final between Villa and Bolton and went into the dressing room to congratulate the players on reaching the final after the game.
The club, who allowed schoolchildren on the Villa Park pitch to celebrated the marriage of William and Kate in 2011, hope the new addition to the Royal family will be dribbling for Villa in the months and years to come.
And when news of the birth of the future king of England broke out, it heralded the instantaneous arrival of some hilarious Terry Photoshops that went viral.
