Ex-Bulgarian Prime Minister Signs For Second Division Club as he Becomes Oldest Player In the History of Bulgarian football

Bulgaria: Bulgaria's Ex-PM Borisov Enlists as Professional Footballer

Bulgarian league B-division team Vitosha Bistritsa has a new recruit in the form of former Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov .

Borisov was recently registered as a professional football player with the Bulgarian Football Union as well.

Known to be a big fan of sports, the former political supremo is also a karate professional and an avid tennis lover.

Borisov, who claims to be a striker, has actually played for Vitosha before on several occasions before, though mostly in charity and exhibition games, it must be said. However he did once pip Dimitar Berbatov in a fans’ poll to crown the 2011 Bulgarian Player of the Year.

Unfortunately Borisov subsequently anulled the vote as he was worried that fans may have voted for him in protest over the abysmal state of the national game and not his unquestionable footballing prowess…

After struggling from a string of hypertension crisis in early 2012, Borisov was warned by his doctors to abstain from sports. However, he is now reported to be in good health and is medically cleared to participate.

The Bulgarian Football Union has said that Borisov will have to go under additional health checks before being allowed to start playing.

The former Prime Minister, who turned 54 this summer, will break the record for being the oldest professional football player in the history of Bulgarian football.
