Agbonlahor who has Nigerian blood sent Tomlinson crashing to the floor with a very strong challenge at a packed out Celtic Park for Stiliyan Petrov’s charity match.
What ensued was a barrage of abuse for Agbonlahor from the boyband’s fans on Twitter as a tackle in a match to raise money for Petrov’s foundation caused an almighty furore.
Dazed and limping around, Tomlinson requested that he be immediately taken off, before promptly vomiting into his hand.
"It was just one of those things. I'll apologise to Louis when we meet up with everybody else after the game," Agbonlahor said of the challenge.
"I know he enjoyed playing in the game and it's fantastic that he took time out to be here, and the same with everybody who played.
"It was a fabulous day for Stiliyan Petrov and for Celtic and their respective charities," he added.
"It's great to see all the people who came here to play in the game and all the fans who turned up to support such a worthy cause.
"I know Stiliyan is really grateful and appreciative and that's what today's all about."
Petrov's XI beat a Celtic XI 5-3 thanks to a Dimitar Berbatov hat-trick as 60,000 turned out for the event.
The Bulgarian was forced to retire prematurely following a battle with leukaemia.
