Jonny Howson's first-half goal gave Norwich City just their second win of the Barclays Premier League season with a 1-0 triumph at Stoke City. From a Norwich point of view, this game was a must win game, The Canaries on the back of three losses in their last five games will play Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City in their next five games. So Norwich did what they had to do as Howson's long range strike prepared them for the WAR ahead. So Bring on Chelsea?
Sunderland 1 3 Liverpool
Just when Liverpool were brought back to earth last week by Southampton, up stepped Luis Suarez who sent the Red's back to cloud 9 as his brace helped Liverpool to a 3 - 1 win over managerless Sunderland. The Uruguayan striker playing his first EPL game since April didn't show any sign of rust, Inform striker and man of the match Daniel Sturidge was at his very best, and double captain Steven Gerrard... The trio were at the heart of everything good that happened to Liverpool today.
Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring as the ball appeared to hit his arm as he scored from a corner before Suarez ensured the visitors held a two-goal advantage at the break courtesy of a close-range finish. Although Sunderland rallied with Emanuele Giaccherini’s goal early in the second period, Liverpool sealed the three points late on as Suarez scored thanks to a Sturridge assist for the second time in the game.
The result moves the Merseyside club to second in the English top flight, and gets Brendan Rodgers' team back to winning ways after consecutive defeats against Southampton, in the league, and Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.
