Barclays Premier League Wrap

Chelsea 2 1 Manchester City

Late winner: Fernando Torres capitalised on a late defensive slip to give Chelsea a 2-1 win

Chelsea stunned Man City in strange circumstances as Striker Fernando Torres scored in the final minute to give them a dramatic victory at Stamford Bridge. This match was stunning in two senses; the high pulsating game saw the rebirth of El Nino as the striker put up possibly his finest performance in a Chelsea Jersey. Secondly, Manchester City revealed to the world that they are not going to win the EPL title, I mean, with that kind of shambolic defending from Nastastic and Joe Hart, The Citizens are not going to add to the premier league title they won two years ago, atleast not any time soon.

The event of the last minute of regular time was catastrophic, an eye-sore and totally not accepted in any top divisional match, let alone the most watched league in the world.

Joe Hart was caught in no man’s land and in no position to claim Matija Nastasic's nod back leaving the tireless Torres free to slot home into an empty net for the win that sent Chelsea up to second. The goal also broke Aguero's record - this was the first time Man City were going to lose with the Argentine on the score sheet. The bizarre goal also made Jose Mourinho more special, the special one maintained his unbeaten run at the Bridge!

Sunderland 2 1 Newcastle

Borini celebrations

Fabio Borini was Sunderland's hero as his late goal secured a 2-1 win over rivals Newcastle United, the club's first Barclays Premier League victory of the season.

The Italian was introduced in the 68th minute and grabbed the winner with a powerful 85th-minute strike from the edge of the penalty area.

Steven Fletcher gave Gus Poyet the perfect start to his opening game in charge at the Stadium of Light by breaking the deadlock in the fifth minute, but Sunderland were unable to hold on to that lead.

Mathieu Debuchy's first goal for Newcastle brought the visitors level just before the hour, the defender converting a simple tap in at the back post.

Substitute Shola Ameobi came close to winning the game for Newcastle, but it was Borini who ultimately secured three points for the hosts.

The win sees Sunderland move off the bottom of the Premier League table at the expense of Crystal Palace.

Tottenham Hotspurs 1 0 Hull City

Clam and collected: Roberto Soldado slots his penalty past Steve Harper in the Hull goal

Roberto Soldado scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as Tottenham Hotspur sealed a narrow victory over injury-hit Hull City at White Hart Lane.

Spurs looked set to drop more points at home until Ahmed Elmohamady was adjudged to have handled Jan Vertonghen's cross 12 minutes from time and Soldado scored the resulting spot-kick.

The win for Andre Villas-Boas’s charges lifted them up to fourth place in the Barclays Premier League table as they secured their first home win in three matches.

However, there was concern for the hosts when England winger Andros Townsend crashed over the advertising hoardings soon after Soldado's goal and received treatment for some time before returning.

Swansea 0 0 West Ham

Downpour: Chicho Flores flicks a header on from a corner ahead of Winston Reid of West Ham

Sam Allardyce's side were looking for back-to-back away wins after a stunning 3-0 success at Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, and caused the home defence no end of trouble from set pieces on Sunday.

But their profligacy, combined with resolute Swansea defending, ensured both sides would share the spoils in Wales.

Michael Laudrup's men improved after the break and substitute Wilfried Bony nearly stole the points for the home side but was denied by a terrific reaction stop from goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Swansea were boosted by the return of captain Ashley Williams, making his first appearance in more than a month after suffering an ankle injury, while West Ham were unchanged from the side that lost 3-1 to Manchester City last week.

  3. U never talked about Agureo's equalizing stunner.. Regardless of it being marred by the stupidity of two foolish players, it has to be mentioned.. Goal of the season candidate
