This weekend’s Indian grand prix could be cancelled at the high court over unpaid entertainment taxes.
The race is considered an “Entertainment” in India and not a sport which means it has to pay a special “entertainment tax”
The petition will be heard in court on Friday and if the tax bill isn’t paid could see this weekend’s Indian grand prix cancelled.
The Indian grand prix has already been dropped from the 2014 calendar.
If cancelled, that would officially and mathematically give Sebastian Vettel his fourth championship. The German has a 90 point lead over closest rival Fernando Alonso and with just three races remaining, that's an insurmountable margin. Vettel is the only driver ever to have won the Indian Grand Prix and if the court of Law gives the race a green flag, a top 5 finish will all but guarantee him his quartet of championships.
