A document revealed by Radio Globo has shown that Santos earned just over €9m from Neymar’s transfer to Barcelona but his father is to receive a massive commission.
According to the minutes of a Santos board meeting on June 18, the Spanish giants paid €17m to obtain 100 per cent ownership of the Brazilian international, with his club receiving €9.35m of this amount.
The rest was divided between two companies that owned part of the player’s rights – DIS, which owned 40 per cent and Teisa, with a 5 per cent stake in him.
According to Globoesporte, Barca’s initial offer for the 21-year-old was €16.5m, to be paid in instalments up to 2016, yet the deal was eventually rubber-stamped with the Catalans agreeing to pay the administrative costs, a figure of €171,000.
However, as the Barcelona board announced, Neymar’s transfer cost a total €57m with €40m allegedly going to the player’s father in commission, of which €10m was reported to have been paid in advance in 2012.
In terms of bonuses, La Blaugrana will pay an extra €2m if Neymar is voted one of the top three players in the world at the Ballon d’Or awards within the next five years.
Santos will also get first refusal on the player if at any time in the future he decides to leave Barcelona.
