Congratulations Yelena Isinbayeva... Most Dominant female Athlete of all time

When you talk of women's Pole Vault, Yelena Isinbayeva comes to mind. The Russian has sealed her name in books of legends by winning the Gold medal in the women's pole vault.  Highly recognized as the greatest pole vaulter of all time, she now has 3 world championship medals to her name not forgetting the 2 Olympic gold medals she's gathered over the years.


Setting 28 world records (15 outdoor and 13 indoor), staying virtually unbeaten between 2004 and 2009 (winning nine straight gold medals in indoor and outdoor championships) and being elected IAAF World Athlete of the Year in 2004, 2005 and 2008, Isinbayeva has established herself as one of the most successful athletes of her generation.

Coming into the Moscow games, the 31 year old announced she was going to retire after the championship (HERE). She saved her best performance for the last as she leaped to a season best of 4.89 to the delight of the home crowd.
