Nigeria's Sunshine Stars FC of Akure Set to Employ Foreign Coach.



Sunshine Stars FC of Akure hope to confirm the appointment of Argentine coach Rodolfo Zapata as their new coach soon as he returns from the United States.

The Akure based outfit want to welcome former Mpumalanga Black Aces of South Africa coach to their fold. With details yet to be sorted out due to no official announcement of the move, numerous outlets report that club president Mike Idoko has been in contact the 47-year-old coach for a while.

Mike Idoko has also stated that he will make it official in the next few days to come as coach Zapata needs to fulfil contractual obligations in his base at the United States.

PROFILE

Rodolfo Zapata (May 1 1966) is an Argentine Football Association coach and former goalkeeper.

Due to consecutive knee injures, Rodolfo Zapata retired from playing in 1995. He played as goalkeeper in Huracan and Sportivo Italiano. 

He founded Rolo Zapata Soccer Academy in Buenos Aires. Currently is one of the elites soccer program in Bella Vista, Buenos Aires and United States.

In 1997, he graduated from the Argentine Football Association (AFA) with an international degree as coach. Zapata decided to start a new career as a football manager in United States. He was Teacher/Head Coach of United Nations International School in New York City.

Shortly after, Zapata was Director of Coaches & Players Development Program of Alberta Soccer Association in Canada (2000).

He returned to the United States where he spent 9 years as coach of the Olympic Development Program in New York City (2001-2009).

In 2010-2011, He was based in Akure City, where he was head coach of Nigeria League side Sunshine Stars FC, as well as manager of Rising Stars in Ondo State.

In 2011-2012, Rolo Zapata was appointed to be Head Coach of MP Black Aces FC in South Africa
