Sebastian Vettel wins FOURTH Championship in Grand Style

All smiles: Sebastian Vettel admires his latest trophy after triumphing at the Indian Grand Prix

Its Official, Sebastian Vettel is the fastest/best driver in the world, this title was conferred on him as he cruised to his sixth consecutive victory of the season in the Indian Grand Prix. The result means, regardless of what happens in the remaining three races of the season, the German will drive away with his fourth consecutive championship.

Vettel only needed a top 5 finish in India to make history, but like the champion that he's made of.. He was in a class of his own as he put up another dominant display to become the youngest driver ever to win a quartet of championships. The 26 year old has now drawn level with Alain Prost on the all time list, Only Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher have achieved more Drivers' crowns.

Vettel's sixth win in a row, 10th in 16 races this season and 36th of his career left him poised to shatter more records in the remaining three races in Abu Dhabi, America and Brazil.

If he wins all three, Vettel will equal Schumacher's record of 13 wins in 2004 and become the only driver to secure nine consecutive victories in a season.

Italian Alberto Ascari drove a Ferrari for nine straight wins, but his run was spread over two seasons in 1952 and 1953.

When the chequered flag fell to bring an end to possibly the last ever Indian Grand Prix, Vettel delighted the crowd at the Buddh International Circuit by pulling off a series of doughnuts on the start-finish straight, producing vast clouds of thick, grey smoke and earning himself a standing ovation.

Jumping for joy: Vettel launches his gloves into the crowd after securing first place

"I had to do it - usually we're not allowed to, but it felt so right at that time," he said of the stunt, which will no doubt earn him a hefty fine from the FIA for breaching safety regulations. He also remains the only driver ever to have won the Indian Grand Prix.

Vettel spoke afterwards, ”First of all I would to thank the crowd for an unbelievable reception, I am speechless and I was empty when I crossed the line. I spent ages thinking what to say, there is so much you want to say at a time like that.”

“It is a pleasure to jump in the car and go out and drive for the guys and give it all I have. The car was phenomenal today and has been phenomenal all season to be honest.”

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who is behind the team, it has not been an easy season. From the outside people will think it was easy but it wasn’t. It has been hard for me in particular, to be booed when I have not done anything wrong was hard but I think I answered the things on the track which I am very pleased about.”

“I am overwhelmed, I don’t know what to say but it is the best day of my life so far. When I started to race, Formula 1 seemed so far away but there are so many people I have to thank along the way from karting to here.”

“I was taught so many things and I have always tried to listen but to come out on top of this incredibly talented field is amazing. I am not old yet but I am getting older and maybe I am not grasping it yet. Maybe in 10 years time I will look back and realise the enormity.”

Vettel

There is no doubt that this man is going to equal Juan Manuel Fangio' 5 titles, but whether he has what it takes to beat his compatriot Micheal Schumacher's SEVEN, Sportunes can only wish him Viel Glück!.
