After that, People poured into the streets in celebration, both in the capital, Algiers, and across the country, despite heavy rain, with enthusiastic citizens beeping their car horns and exercising other 'reckless behavior' throughout the country’s streets Yesterday night.

During the celebrations, a van slid off a road into a chasm in the northern coastal mountain town of Bejaia, killing five people. Four others died in a car accident in Biskra, further south. I'm still finding it difficult to digest this misdemeanor, why they were violently happy i cannot fathom... This is not the first time Algeria is qualifying for the worldcup, infact only two African countries (Cameroon and Nigeria) have been to the worldcup more than the North African country.

And again, that kind of wild celebration against a Burkina Faso team that's 20 places behind you on the Fifa Ranking is just a celebration of shame and mediocrity.. It has to be noted that Algeria is also above Nigeria on that list, but when we secured our place in next year's worldcup, most of us real soccer enthusiasts just drank to that and made a toast to the glorious moments awaiting us in Brazil.

We at Sportunes sympathize with the Algerian government and the bereaved families.
