Blessing Okagbare Bows out of the Women's 100m as Murielle Ahoure becomes the Greatest African Athlete ever
Blessing Okagbare failed to live up to expectation as she was breezed out of the women's 100m final. The Long jump Silver medalist in the ongoing championships finished a distant 6th place in a disappointing time of 11.04s.
After breaking the African record at the anniversary games last month with a time of 10.79s, the plan was for her to penultimately put Nigerian athletics and ultimately African women athletics on the map by being the first ever African woman to win a 100m world championship's medal.
But it appeared the Nigerian dint get the memo as she left the onus for relatively unknown sprinter Murielle Ahoure. The Ivorian has not really made her name in the women's 100m but come 12th August 2013 she gave a spectacular show in the 100m where she won the silver medal just behind the double Olympic champion Shelly - Ann Fraser Pryce. The unprecedented result automatically makes her the greatest woman 100m athlete ever.
