Rumour has it that FIFA cancelled a secret photoshoot with Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery because Cristiano Ronaldo will win the Balon d’Or.

While questions can be asked over the accuracy of the reports, the story comes days after FIFA announced that the voting for the Ballon d’Or had been extended until Friday. 

That decision was made just at the same time as Cristiano Ronaldo was hitting a hat-trick in Stockholm to fire Portugal to the World Cup, and widespread opinion is that FIFA’s decision to extend the vote for the World Player of the Year was designed to boost the Real Madrid’s forward’s chances of winning the top prize.
